I'm not really seeing the resemblance. Unless you just mean they're made of stone and have pillars/buttresses.....

The first picture looks more like Echovald Forest to me. But to be honest, what variety is there in catacombs anyway?

Uhh, a dungeon is a dungeon, they'll all look alike eventually. I don't find very much resemblance either though.

The catacombs were my favourite area in Pre-Sear. I especially liked the underground waterfalls and that room with all the candles. I always wondered where the catacombs 'went' in Post-Sear.
I would have thought that - despite everything that happened above ground - the catacombs would have survived more or less intact and unchanged. They're only full of undead and spiders anyway.
For while I thought that their disappearance would be due to the entrance in Sardelac being blocked off....but there were two other entrances too. So where are my catacombs??
Bring back the catacombs A-Net.

Well you provided a screen of the catacombs and two screens of the dungeons, they don't look alike to me. If you're saying a different part of the catacombs looks like the dungeons, then maybe you should've posted a screen of that instead.

The pre searing catacombs were tough but the game was slower.

I thought that it had already been confirmed that the Catacombs would be re-opened in GW:EN.

Yes, it has, and I am still wondering why the first 10 posters of this thread don't know.

What do you mean by "re-opened"? Were they ever opened at one time or another?

Wow... I gave these screenshots a passing glance when they were first released, but upon looking at them again I realize something...
My Necro girl, Ukiyo, is never going to see the light of day ever again.
